Dr. Sameh Elkaffas graduated with high honors from faculty of medicine, Cairo University in October 2001 with the rank of second in his class. He joined the Cardio-vascular medicine department of Cairo University in late 2002, where he finished his residency in general Cardiology in 2006, with special interests in Cardio-vascular imaging and catheter-based cardio-vascular interventions.
Dr. Elkaffas finished his Master degree of Cardiology in 2007 and was appointed an assistant Lecturer in the Cardio-vascular medicine department of Cairo University. Then, starting from 2008, he collaborated with Prof. Satoru Sumitsuji during his visits to Egypt to perform complex coronary intervention cases.
Dr Sameh Elkaffas joined the Cardiology department in Osaka University, Japan as a fellow in the advanced Cardio-vascular therapeutics unit in 2010. During his time there, he trained under the supervision of Prof. Sumitsuji in the fine art of intervention for chronic total occlusion of the coronary arteries, which is arguably the most difficult aspect of catheter-based coronary interventions.
In early 2013, Dr Sameh obtained his MD degree, with the thesis title “Predictors of Success Using Novel Techniques in Percutaneous Coronary Intervention for Chronic Total Occlusions”. Dr Sameh Elkaffas is currently Lecturer of Cardio-vascular medicine, Kasr Alainy faculty of medicine, Cairo University and practices in distinguished hospitals in the greater Cairo region, Egypt.
Starting September 2015, Dr. Elkaffas collaborated in an agreement with Zentralklinik Bad Berka, Germany to manage difficult cases under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Bernward Lauer, Chefarzt of Cardiology in Zentralklinik Bad Berka.
